Girls Wine
Tasting Trip
A
weekend in wine country is a great way to celebrate the
bride-to-be's upcoming bachelorette party. It is a trip that can
either be something that is planned out in advance or maybe
something that is more of a last minute bachelorette party, all
who attend are bound to have a good time. There are many regions
both here in the US or abroad that offer great weekend
get-a-ways for the bride-to-be's last night out.
California has a
multitude of such areas including Napa, Sonoma, Santa Barbara,
Los Olivos, Temecula, and many others that provide all the
necessary things (lodging, food, nightlife, wineries, and
transportation) for a great weekend for the party. A weekend
away at one of these destinations can be as extravagant as you
might like, taking advantage of a full service resort and spa,
or as economical as staying at a quaint Bed and Breakfast.
Rather than doing the same old bar hoping, isn't much more
relaxing and hassle-free to visit wineries on your own pace (we
do recommend , if driving to have a designated driver) or have
everyone chip in and hire a
limo service or shuttle to tour your Bachelorette Party
through the vineyards allowing everyone to drink and celebrate.
Some helpful
hints from our investigation on trips to the various wine
tasting areas:
(1)
Try and make reservations as early
as possible for lodging and dining
(especially during harvest seasons).
(2)
Call ahead to wineries to make
reservations (especially with large
parties - usually more than 6
people), also in calling ahead to
let them know about the party,
sometimes you can negotiate better
rates or even free tastings.
(3)
Try not to schedule too many
tastings for any one day, a good
average is to plan to make 3
wineries (if you start early - the
last thing you want is to be rushing
around trying to make appointments
so a good rule of thumb is to
reserve your first and last
tastings, then leave the middle of
the afternoon open, this gives you
the ability to stop in on wineries
on the way but gives you time to
enjoy the day for the bachelorette
party.
(4)
If you do plan to use a service or
shuttle, it is best to call ahead,
usually the earlier reserved - the
better the rates you can get, also
many service can get booked so if
you plan to use one, it is best to
call and reserve as early as
possible.
(5)
Rent a car/SUV big enough to have
all the girls in the same vehicle
(if booked early or using some of
the travel websites, you can get a
great rate and have a vehicle large
enough to hold all the bachelorettes
and even room for some wine to bring
back home.
(6)
Ask friends, family or use internet
searches to investigate wineries and
their offerings, local restaurants
and places to stay for the
bachelorette party. Many times you
can find wineries that offer free
tastings, and other more prestigious
ones, may only take visitors who
have scheduled a tasting, or get
group discounts on lodging.
(7)
A great way to help cut costs is to
use any of the many travel websites
to find everything you need for the
trip, and you can even use some of
the restaurant websites to make
reservations.
Wine tasting is
one of our favorite past times here, and a visit to wine
country, though much different than the
Vegas or Bar ventures, is a relaxing and tasty way to
celebrate the Bachelorette Party.
We, in our
ongoing commitment to offering alternatives to the common
bachelorette party weekends, will continue to try to offer
information helpful to make the best party possible. If you have
any questions regarding a wine tasting Girl's Night Out,
especially in California, please feel free to send us an email
and we would be happy to help you in your planning.
